Imbibe philosophy of Buddha for 'salvation' : Governor

Bodh Gaya, Dec 29 (UNI) Bihar Governor R S Gavai today said 'salvation' could be achieved by imbibing the philosophy of Lord Buddha and called upon the people to inculcate his teachings of love and universal brotherhood.

Addressing a prayer meeting of all religions for the welfare of mankind here, Mr Gavai said people should not crave for materialistic gain and instead try to adopt the message of Lord Buddha to attain eternal peace.

He said in this era of consumerism, the relevence of Buddha's teachings had assumed great significance.

'' People belonging to all religions present here should pledge to spread the message of love and universal brotherhood propagated by Lord Buddha, '' he exhorted.

Expressing her views on the occasion, Ms Tara Gandhi Bhattacharya, the great grand daughter of Mahatma Gandhi said menace of terrorism could be wiped out from the country by inculcating the teachings of Lord Buddha.
