Govt organisations to be strengthened: Minister
Hyderabad, Dec 29 (UNI)Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Minister N Raghuveera Reddy today reiterated the administration's resolve to strengthen government organisations in the state for its effective functioning and serve the people.
Releasing the Agro-Dairy 2007 brought out by the AP State Agro Industries Corporation Employees Union, Mr Reddy said the government had revived the Andhra Pradesh Agro Industries Development Corporation (APAIDC) which had almost collapsed during the Telugu Desam Party regime in the state.
He said the Corporation had recorded a turnover of over Rs 130 crore during 2005-06 which was an all-time high as against Rs 10.21 crores in 2004-05. It earned a net profit of Rs three crore last year.
The corporataion having already crossed Rs 217.58 crore in December this year,it was all set to clock Rs 250 crore by March 2007.
As a nodal agency for supply of farm implements, tools and machinery, APAIDC had supplied about one lakh agricultural implements and machinery to about one lakh farmers all worth Rs 90 crore at 50 per cent subsidy last year.
This year it was proposed to cover about 1.2 lakh farmers with 1.2 lakh implements worth Rs 120 crore.
The corporation had come up with innovative scheme of creating entrepreneur skills in agricultural business in rural areas among unemployed graduates, he said.
