Fake currencies seized, illegal hemp cultivation destroyed

Krishnagar, Dec 29 (UNI) Police and CID in a joint operation arrested two persons and seized about fifty fake currencies with denomination of Rs 500 from them at Goranghata in Nabadwip of Nadia district last night, police today said.

Police on a specific information raided the house of Prabir Das of Goranghata and arrestd him along with his assistant Shymapada Biswas.

In another raid police along with the Vigilance officials have destroyed hemp plants cultivated at an area of over 82 acres of land at Tehatta sub-division in Nadia district bordering Bangladesh.

District Magistrate Onkar Singh Meena said the hemps worth Rs 3 crore were burned and destroyed in the operation.
