Delhi lad Rashid crowned Sunfeast Junior Golf champion

Bangalore, Dec 29 (UNI) Delhi's Rashid Khan ended the year in style, winning the Category A title of the Sunfeast All India Junior/Sub Junior Golf Championship here today.

Rashid, who shot a final round of six-over 77, finished with a winning tally of 294 at the par-71 Karnataka Golf Association Course.

Jaipur's Amanjyot Singh finished second at 16-over 300 after shooting a final round 73, while Chandigarh's Rahul Bakshi finished a stroke behind him in third place at 301 after shooting a final round of three over 74.

Category B saw local lad Chikkarangappa clinch the title with a round of 74 while in Category C, Viraat Badhwar secured a one-stroke win over Ashbeer Saini at a tally of 305.

In the junior-most Category D, Bangalore's Akash Srinivasan clinched the title with a round of 85 for a combined tally of 248. Delhi's Vidit Singh finished second at 252.

Rashid began with two pars before a double bogey on the third and a bogey on the eighth saw him make the turn at three-over.

On the back nine, Rashid had bogies on the 13 th, 17th and 18th.

''The conditions were tough but the greens played a lot better today. Amanjyot gave a good fight but I was always under control,'' said Rashid after his title win.
