Delhi, Karnataka dominate on 2nd day of taekwondo nationals
Panaji, Dec 29 (UNI) Delhi and Karnataka stole the limelight today claiming six and five gold medals respectively on the second day of the three-day 21st National Taekwondo Championship underway at the Don Bosco indoor stadium here.
Chandigardh and Goa claimed four and three gold medals each respectively, Haryana claimed two, while Nagaland and West Bengal bagged one gold medal each.
Delhi girls claimed all the three gold medals in the 13-18 years age group -- Rinika Khatar bagged the gold medal in the 58-64 kg black belt catagory, Nayantara in the 40-46 kg green belt to black stripe category and Ruchika Tiwari in the 45-51 kg green belt to black stripe category.
In the boys below 13 years section, Delhi's Premathu won the gold medal in the 32-37 kg category, Roshan Shah won in the 45-51 kg category, while Shivanand Yadav claimed the gold in the below 45 kg category.
For Goa, Pancha Raj Sharma (below 50 kg), Sher Bahadur (50-57 kg) and Bal Bahadur (64-71 kg), all 18 years and above, won the gold.
Nishant T G (22-27 kg), Ganesh N (27-32 kg), Sagar T G (37-42 kg), Niranjan Kadam (42-47 kg) and Chindanand (57-64 kg) won the gold medals for Karnataka.
Chandigarh's Sahil Bhardwaj (22 kg), Amit Kumar (57-63 kg), Babla Singh (63-69 kg) and Keshav Datta (69-75 kg) won the gold.
Orenthung of Nagaland won the gold medal in 47 kg and above category, Haryana's Sumit Dhull in the 51-57 kg category and Satish Dhull in the 71-78 kg category, while Sarab Singh claimed gold for West Bengal in the 75 kg and above category.
