Congress hails Prez and PM's intervention to end Mamata's fast
Kolkata, Dec 29 (UNI) The West Bengal Congress today appreciated President A P J Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi for their intervention to end the 25-day-long hunger strike by Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee.
''We are extremely grateful to Dr Kalam, Dr Singh and Mr Gandhi for their direct intervention. The people at last have heaved a sigh of relief as Ms Banerjee's condition was deteriorating day by day,'' Congress Legislature Party leader in the Assembly Manas Bhuniya told newspersons here.
He also urged Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee to create a peaceful environment and adopt a positive approach on the Singur land acquisition issue.
''We are demanding to Mr Bhattacharjee to investigate Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata's allegation and publish a list of those industrialists obstructing the car factory at Singur,'' Mr Bhuniya iterated.
