Cabinet nod for revival of APCOC Act

Hyderabad, Dec 29 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today approved the re-enactment of the lapsed ''Andhra Pradesh Control of Organised Crime (APCOC) Act to effectively deal with organised crime.

Briefing newspersons on the decision taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Revenue Minister D Prasada Rao said the Act had lapsed on November 11, 2004.

The cabinet thought it fit to re-enact APCOC as organised crime posed a serious threat to the society by neutralising the normal legal process through subversion of enforcement machinery.
