2 women die due to lack of medical facility in Kargil
Kargil, Dec 29 (UNI) Two expecting mothers have died due to lack of medical facility at village Khawas Panikhar, about 70 km from here where people also locked non-functional telephone exchange, a senior leader of the National Conference (NC) Syed Aga Abbas alleged.
Mr Abbas said two pregnant women died due to lack of medical facility at Primary Health Centre (PHC).
He said both the women died before they could be shifted to another nearest PHC at Sankoo, about 27 km away because of bad roads.
He said the PHC at Khawas was without doctors and medicine, forcing people to take the patients to Sankoo or Kargil.
The NC leader demanded appointment of a lady doctor in the PHC.
Mr Abbas said the telephone exchange at Panikhar was also not functioning for the past two months.
People of the area locked the main gate of the exchange now in protest against the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSLN) authorities failure to repair it.
