Tension in Mararikulam as rival CPM factions clash

Alappuzha, Dec 28 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Mararikulam following a clash between the cadres of rival factions of the CPI(M) in which one person was injured and four houses damaged.

The clash erupted after Mararikkulam Area Committee took a decision to initiate disciplinary action against 22 comrades for indugling in ''anti-party'' activities.

The clash happened yesterday after one of the factions, which had taken out a march in protest against the party-level disciplinary action against 22 persons was attacked by the other group.

The party district committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow.
