Steel Ministry releases Rs 51.90 crore as workers' arrears

New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) To address the long-standing grievances of the employees, the Steel Ministry today released cheques of Rs 30.46 crore and Rs 21.44 crore as payment towards arrears of employees of Bharat Refractories Ltd (BRL) and Hindustan Steelworks Construction Ltd (HSCL) respectively.

Arrears of BRL employees were due from January 1992 to June 1998 and that of HSCL from July 2003 to August 2005.

Both companies are public sector enterprises under the administrative control of the Steel Ministry, an official statement here said.
