Sharp shooter of Sarif Khan gang killed in encounter in Guj
Ambaji (Gujarat), Dec 28 (UNI) Notorious criminal Samir alias Tulsiram Gangaram Prajapati, a sharp shooter of Sharif khan Pathan gang, was killed in an encounter with officers of special operation group (SOG) and local police on Ambaji-Mount Abu road highway in wee hours of today.
SOG sub-inspector A A Pandya, sustained a bullet injury on his left shoulder in the encounter. he has been shifted to Palanpur civil hospital.
Two other accomplices of Tulsiram managed to escape in the nearby forest, police said.
In a joint operation, the SOG and local police had set up dragnet following a tip-off provided by Rajasthan police stating that Tulsi and his two accomplices are trying to sneak into Gujarat through the Mount-Abu route.
However, when police tried to stop the gangsters, the trio opened fire on the police, injuring Pandya. However, in the retaliatory police firing, Tulsiram was shot dead while two of his aides managed to escape. Later, during the postmortem two bullets were taken out from his body.
Tulsiram, who hailed from Shantinagar near Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, had escaped from Rajasthan by throwing chilly powder into the eyes of railway police personnel on December 12.
Police said Tulsiram was involved in many crimes, including murders and several extortion cases, police sources said.
Police has launched a massive manhunt for the two gangters in the surrounding areas, police sources said.
