Second World Kannada Meet in Belgaum from February 23

Bangalore, Dec 28(UNI) The Second World Kannada Meet will be held in Belgaum from February 23.

The State Cabinet which met here today approved holding of the Meet for three days in the border District.

Briefing newsmen after the Cabinet meeting, Minister for Primary and Higher Education Basavaraj Horatti said that the Meet assumes significance as it was being held when the State was celebrating Golden Jubilee of its formation.

It may be recalled that the first World Kannada Meet was held at Mysore in 1985 during late Ramakrishna Hegde's regim. Renowned Kannada Poet and Jnanapeeta Awardee K V Puttappa had presided over.
