Rs 100 fine for excreting in open!

Ujjain, MP, Dec 27 (UNI) Under Madhya Pradesh's 'Samagra Swachhata' (complete cleanliness) programme, a village panchayat at Harsaul in this division's Mandsaur district has taken the laudable initiative of announcing that a fine would be imposed on those defecating in the open, official sources said today.

The village has a population of 1,500 and any adult violator would have to cough up Rs 100 while a child would have to pay Rs 50.

The panchayat has formed a team comprising ten persons, including children, who would play a drum while following persons trying to break the rule.
