PTS holds dharna for unorganised workers

Chennai, Dec 28 (UNI) Members of the Pen Thozihlalargal Sangam (Women Employees Organisation) today staged a dharna here demanding among other things minimum wages for unorganised workers.

In a statement here, PTS General Secretary Parimala Jayanthi said they also wanted the state government to provide ESI, pension and house site pattas for the unorganised workers.

She said a creche meant for working women belonging to the unoranised sector was establised in the city long back but was not commissioned.

Ms Jayanthi urged the Tamil Nadu Government to open the creche imemdiately.

Leaders of various trade unions including AITUC, CITU and other trade unions addressed the dharna and expressed support to the PTS.
