Police custody of Guru Satam aides extended to Jan 3

Mumbai, Dec 28 (UNI) The MCOCA court here today extended the police custody of five aides of underworld don Guru Satam, who were booked under the stringent Act in connection with an extortion case, till January 3.

Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Judge Mridula Bhatkar extended police custody till January 3, of all five booked under MCOCA since the police said it required their custodial interrogation to find out more details of their unlawful activities and trace more witness and wanted accused in this case.

As per the complaint registered before the anti extortion cell of DCB-CID by a Malad-based builder, police first arrested Chandra Sekhar Rao on December 7, Bhushan Ramchandra Satam the next day and Hemant Pandurang Raut, Naresh Krishna Parab and Vilas Eknath Velankar on December 16 under various section of IPC for demanding an extortion amount of Rs five lakh from the builder.

However, during the course of investigation, it was found that the accused were the members of the organised crime syndicate headed by accused Guru Satam. They were booked under MCOCA after obtaining necessary approval from the competent authority.
