Notorious crimnal killed in police encounter

Udaipur, Dec 28 (UNI) Notorious criminal and a sharp shooter of the Chota Dawood gang Tulsi alias Praful was killed in police firing near Chapdi check post here.

Tulsi, resident of Shantinagar in Ujjain, was wanted in many cases of heinous crime in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharastra and was working for Chota Dawood. He was arrested by the Udaipur police from Gujarat about a year back in connection with a murder case.

Dinesh M N, SP, Udaipur district, said the criminal was taken to Ahmedabad in connection with a ransom and a firing case from the Udaipur central jail on December 26. On his return to Udaipur, the next night, Praful escaped with two unidentified miscreants after cheating the guards.

The Gujarat and Rajasthan police launched a manhunt to nab them.

The police identified Praful at about 0500 hrs near Sarhad Chapdi check post. Tulsi and his accomplice tried to run away from the scene after firing at the police, but the former was killed in the encounter.
