LANCO ink Mou with Jharkhand Government for power project
Hyderabad, Dec 28 (UNI) LANCO Infratech Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jharkhand Government today for setting up a 2640 MW coal-based power project in Jharkhand rpt Jharkhand.
With this new project, the total power capacity of LANCO - Operation as well as Process, rose to around 12000 MW, a LANCO release said here.
The Thermal project would be set up in two phases of 1320 MW each. The Jharkhand Government would assist in acquiring land, permit drawal of required quantity of water for the power project and provide other intrastructure facililties.
The Jharkhand Government would have the first right to purchase up to 25 per cent of the power generated from the power project. The balance power could be sold to any other State through competitive bidding.
Jharkhand has about 30 per cent of the coal reserves available in the country and the coal, which has less ash content was most suitable for power generation, the release added.
