Mangalore, Dec 28 (UNI) Karnataka Director General of Police B S Sial today denied media reports that he had sought extension of service and allotment of a Bangalore Development Authority site, terming them as ''fabricated''.

Reacting sharply to reports in a section of the media to this effect, he said he had neither written any letter to the Government nor the Chief Minister in this regard. The media should verify facts before writing, he added.

Mr Sial, who is to retire from service on December 30, told newspersons here before he was honoured by the district police that he had sold out the site alloted to him in 1980 in HAL second stage in Bangalore at a cheaper rate due to some personal reason. He did not own any site in Bangalore in his name now, he added.

He said he had only given his comment on the issue of extension of service of a DGP as sought by the Supreme Court and never sought extension for him.

Mr Sial said the department had organised commando training for police personnel to make them physically and mentally fit to deal with any situation. The department had also decided to set up five more coastal security police stations with required manpower in the coastal districts of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttar Kannada.

The DGP said that in view of increased terrorist threats, security had been beefed up in all airports, ports and railway stations.

To a query, he said nine people have been arrested in connection with the terrorist attack on the Indian Institute of Science campus and investigation was going on.
