Bangalore, Dec 28 (UNI) The Janata Dal (United) in Karnataka today accused the ruling coalition partner-Janata Dal (Secular) of luring its legislators by adopting a divide and rule attitude.

Talking to mediapersons here, party state President B Somasekhar strongly condemned the move of three party legislators -- Nagamani Nagegowda, Anjanappa and Bhimappa Rayabaga in joining the JD(S) during the by-elections to the Chamundeswari Assembly constituency on December four in which former Deputy Chief Minsiter Siddaramaiah emerged victorious for the Congress.

Urging the Election Commission to take note of the increase in 'Aya Ram, Gaya Ram' phenomenon, despite Anti-Defection Law, Mr Somesekhar said, '' some political parties have indulged in encouraging defection by luring the leaders.'' JD (U) has become a machine to produce leaders for other parties,'' he added.

Expressing hope of the three legilators returning to the party fold he said show cause notices have been issued to the legislators and action would be taken against them if they fail to reply to the notice. ''JD(U) cannot be wiped out through defection.

It is like Phoenix, we will not allow it to be destroyed'', he said.
