India's GDP scaling high: Purandareswari

Visakhapatnam, Dec 28 (UNI) Union Minister of state for Human Resource Development D Purandareswari today said India had registered an eight per cent GDP for the past three years and it was 8.4 per cent during the present year.

Inaugurating the 59th All India Commerce Conference here at the Andhra University, she said a recent World Bank report on Global Economic Prospects-2007 had predicted a global economic expansion of 75 trillion dollars by 2030.

She said the global trade in goods and services would shoot up to 27 trillion dollars by 2030.

If the 20th century belonged to Europe and America, the 21st century would be for Asia, with India and China dominating the scene, she added.

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor I Venugopal Reddy said the world economy was undergoing unprecedented changes leading to emergence of a market driven society.

Indian Commerce Association President M B Shukla said the development of a country depended upon the quality human resources available in the country.
