Govt sticks to load shedding
Hyderabad, Dec 28 (UNI) Though Andhra Pradesh received power from other states, including West Bengal, the state government resorted to load shedding to ensure seven hours of uniterrupted power supply to farmers.
''We started receiving 75 MW from the Kaiga Atomic Power plant to meet the increasing power demand'', official sources told UNI.
''Apart from stepping up power generation at Srisailam, the government is procuring power from West Bengal and Kolkata to meet the power demand,'' they added.
Power position would improve to some extent when the eighth and tenth units of the Kothagudem Thermal Power station resume power generation by this month end, they said, adding that distribution companies had been directed to resort to load shedding as per the situation and to ensure that the frequency did not fall below the permissible limits.
