Govt staff, students asked to wear khadi clothes

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 28: The Kerala government has requested government employees and students to wear khadi or handloom clothes once a week as part of promoting them.

A proposal in this regard was adopted by the State Cabinet which met here today, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan told mediapersons yesterday.

The Cabinet also decided to sanction a month's free ration to residents of the Pettippalam Colony in Thalassery (Kannur District) and plantation workers of the AVT Company in Pathanamthitta who were suffering from viral fever.
