Gadkari confident of Sena-BJP alliance
Mumbai, Dec 28 (UNI) Maharashtra BJP president Nitin Gadkari today expressed confidence that the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance would be successful in the upcoming civic polls to the ten municipal corporations, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Talking to reporters after inaugurating the media centre at the city BJP office, Mr Gadkari said while negotiations for Nagpur are at the final stage, the same condition exists for other municipal corporations.
''Everything will be finalised in the next couple of days,'' he added.
When asked to comment on Sena chief Bal Thackeray's suggestion about the implementation of a permit system in the metropolis to overcome the problem of migrants, the BJP leader said the issue should not be linked to any particular community or any language-speaking people.
''Mumbai is surrounded by sea from three sides. Therefore, it has certain infrastructural limitations as far as supply of water, electricity and sewage system is concerned and in such a situation, how much burden can the city bear?'' Mr Gadkari asked.
Mr Thackeray's remarks yesterday also expressed similar sentiments, he noted.
