Double Olympic gold medalist, Holmes is brand ambassador of SCMM '07

Mumbai, Dec 28 (UNI) Double Olympic gold medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics, Kelly Holmes of Great Britain will be one of the brand ambassadors for the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2007, it was announced by event promoters Procam International in a release issued here today.

Kelly Holmes, who won gold medals in the 800m and 1500m, becoming only the third woman in history to record this unique double, will arrive in Mumbai in the week before January 21, the race day, and promote Asia's biggest marathon through media interactions and partner promotions, besides encouraging participants on race day.

Kelly Holmes joins an illustrious group of athletes and sports persons who have been associated with the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon as brand ambassadors over the years, namely Paul Tergat, Steve Ovett, Michael Johoson, Mike Powell, Linford Christie, Anju Bobby George, Kapil Dev and Javagal Srinath.

''In keeping with the image of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, our endeavour has always been to get the world's top athletes and sports persons to promote and popularize the event.

''Kelly Holmes joins the list of Olympic and World Champions who have already graced the event,'' said Anil Singh, Managing Director of Procam International.

''I am excited to be in Mumbai for the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon and hope my presence will inspire young athletes in India to work and train harder,'' Kelly Holmes was quoted as saying.
