Dharna by CPI, CPI(M) turn violent, police injured
Sanga Reddy, Andhra Pradesh, Dec 28 (UNI) Several police officials, including an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) were injured, when the activists of CPI and the CPI (M) pelted stones at the police after a dharna at Medak Collectorate organised by them turned violent.
Holding the dharna, they demanded that the government distribute title deeds of assigned lands to the poor.
Police said the CPI(M) activists entered an office in the Collectorate and damaged the furniture.
The demonstrators started pelting stones at the police, when they tried to restrict the activists from entering the Collectorate.
Following this, Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse them from the office premises.
Several CPI(M) activists were arrested.
