Kolkata, Dec 28 (UNI) Director General of Foreign Trade B.S.Meena said here today that the Directorate will play the role of facilitator to boost export growth instead of policy maker.

Speaking at a programme organised by Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO), he said, " we will concentrate more on the role of facilitator in future and organise regular interactions with the trade bodies." Currently the Directorate under the ministry of commerce also frames the foreign trade policy.

" We have taken up a pilot project to bridge the gap between DGFT and customs. The export consignments are generally delayed due to the customs. So we aim to make our presence felt in all the states and work in close co-ordination with the customs department.

Earlier, DGFT Regional head Manoj Kumar said the Directorate will go on-line and exports will be hassle free. No paper works or application forms will be required as everything could be done on-line.

THe FIEO members raised concern over the VAT Refund which the exporters complained were not getting even after two years.

In West Bengal RS 100 crore refund is pending and only Rs 6 crore had been refunded to the exporters.
