New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) Close on heels of the order by the Delhi High Court that children seeking admissions in schools be not called for interviews, the Delhi Government today said it was closely monitoring admissions in the entry classes in all recognised public schools.

Speaking to reporters here, Delhi Government's Minister for Education Arvinder Singh Lovely said each district deputy director of Education has asked the recognised public schools to furnish the admission schedule notified by them; the number of seats proposed to be filled by them in entry classes (Nursery, KG or 1st), prescribed application fee, sample copy of application form along with the terms and conditions prescribed by the school declaring the eligibility of the child for admission.

The Delhi Education Minister said this after a meeting with the officers of the directorate from the level of Deputy Director and above. The meeting was also attended by Secretary (Education) and Director (education).

Mr Lovely said action as per law would be initiated against schools which do not accept the transparent system of admission or fail to ensure admission to the children belonging to the weaker sections of society against freeship quota.

Public schools that have been provided land by the government agencies at concessional rates will have to ensure admission of the children belonging to the weaker sections under the freeship quota of 20 per cent of the total number of seats allocated for fresh admissions in each class.
