Couple killed as car plunges into canal

Rajahmundry, Dec 27: A 50 year-old man and his wife were drowned when the car in which they were proceeding to a temple overturned and fell into a canal near a poultry farm at Kantipeddapudi near here this morning.

Police said they suspect that the car might have hit another vehicle or gone out of control and fallen into the canal. The bodies were removed from the car and after post-mortem, they were handed over to their family members. Police registered a case.

In another incident a 45 year-old man hailing from Bandigadda village of Samagadda Panchayat was killed when a big dried up branch of a drumstick tree fell on him.

The deceased was sleeping in front of the house on a mat when the mishap occurred, police added. According to y ramavaram police.
