Chargesheets filed against doctors in AIIMS case

Chennai, Dec 28 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)'s anti-corruption branch today filed a 120 page chargesheet in the sensational 'AIIMS case' against 52 people, including 41 doctors.

The CBI, which registered the case in March this year, filed the chargesheet before the special court trying CBI cases here. The accused were charged under Sections 120-B, read with Sections 420 and 201 of IPC and Section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The CBI had registered the case against Dr T T Pradeep, Dr K Anusha and 20 others, based on a complaint from the Secretary, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The analysis of OMR sheets of candidates who had appeared from Tamil Nadu in the All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (AIIMS)-2006, had revealed a similarity in the pattern of answering by candidates and the methodology adopted.

During investigation, 11 people, including Dr Ravi Kannan, Dr Vijaya Kanna, Dr Baskar of JIPMER in Puducherry, Dr Satish Kumar of Madurai Medical College and Prof Kattimuthu of Presidency College were identified as key conspirators.
