Centre to extend SSA to secondary school level
Hyderabad, Dec 28 (UNI) The Centre has proposed to extend the ''Sarva Siksha Abhiyan'' (SSA) programme to secondary school level in the 11th plan period to bring down dropout rates in schools.
Talking to reporters here today, Andhra Pradesh School Education Secretary Krishnaiah said following successful implementation of the SSA in the state, the dropout rate, which was 65 per cent had been brought down to 45 per cent.
He said the Centre's proposal would further help the state government to bring the dropouts back to the school.
The Panchayat Raj Department had been entrusted with the task of constructing toilets and drinking water facilities in 25,000 schools in the state by March next, he added.
