Centre grants Rs 175 crore for toilets in rural Haryana
Chandigarh, Dec 28 (UNI) The Union government has sanctioned a Rs 175.39 crore project for construction of individual toilets, community toilets for women and toilets for Aanganwari centres in the state.
Announcing this, Haryana Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh said the women had to face a number of difficulties in the rural areas as there were no proper facilities of toilets.
Under the project individual toilets would be constructed for 5.63 lakh families living below the poverty line, 1292 community toilets, 7167 school toilets and 5531 toilets in Anganwari centres, he said.
He said under the total sanitation campaign individual toilets would be constructed for the people living below the poverty line and construction of community toilet premises in every village.
The scheme had been forwarded to the Ministry of Rural Development for approval. Under the scheme 6531 toilets would be set up in Anganwari centres situated in Government buildings.
