Centre conspiring to impose Prez rule in UP: SP

Faizabad, Dec 28: The ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh today alleged the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the centre was hatching a conspiracy to impose President's rule in the state by January 10, 2007.

Addressing party's youth wing training camp here, SP general secretary and UP Development Council chairman Amar Singh claimed the Congress, BJP and BSP had joined the hands as part of the conspiracy.

''UP is lagging in development due to the hurdles created by the centre for the SP regime in the state,'' he maintained.

Mr Singh noted that Congress, BJP and BSP had a common minimum programme to dislodge the SP regime in the state, so that they could ''plunder'' UP.

Exhorting the youth to dissolving all differences between them, Mr Singh asked them to go among the people and disseminate information about the development works undertaken by the Mulayam Singh Yadav government. He observed there should be no politics on the issues of progress and development.

''...however, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC president Sonia Gandhi are putting a spanner in the way of gas supply to the Dadri power project, so that it gets delayed beyong the 2007 UP assembly poll,'' he claimed.

The UPDC head alleged while the centre was talking about giving free electricity to Punjab, it was unwilling to supply power to UP even for a price.

''Under the federal set-up, the right to air, light and water is equal for all. The development is for the sake of people and the PM should bring about uniformity on this matter, since he the leader of the entire country,'' Mr Singh suggested.

He observed that UP was the ''in-laws' place'' of Ms Gandhi and she should not mete out step-motherly treatment to the state.

''The central government is working under the pressure of the US, which will only prove regressive for the country's development,'' he claimed.
