300 CPI activists held for holding demo
Hyderabad, Dec 28 (UNI) More than 300 activists of Communist Party of India (CPI), including State Secretary K Narayana were arrested while laying siege to 'Vidyut Soudha' (Electricity Department head office) in the city demanding nine-hour uninterrupted power supply to the agriculture sector.
The CPI activists also shouted slogans against the government for ''neglecting'' the farmers. They squatted on the roads throwing traffic out of gear.
Police rushed to the spot and arrested the CPI and AP Ryotu Snagham activists who took part in the demonstration.
Earlier, the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders and activists who tried to lay siege to the office were also arrested.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Mr Narayana threatened to intensify the agitation if the government does not accept the demands.
