3 Pak infilirators among five killed, 3 militants arrested in J
Srinagar, Dec 28 (UNI) Three heavily armed Pakistani infiltrators were among five people killed while security forces arrested a Lashker-e-Tobia and two Al-Badr militants in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
A defence ministry spokesman said troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) noticed a group of militants sneaking into India from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) late last night.
A close watch was maintained on their movement throughout the night. However, with the first light, troops challenged them and asked them to surrender. However, the Militants opened fire and also hurled grenades at the troops, forcing them to retaliate, he said, adding all the three militants were killed.
Three AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
A senior army officer said that a large number of militants, mostly foreigners, were waiting at different launching pads to infiltrate.
Militants from Pakistan as well as other countries, besides Kashmiris, are being trained in the camps still functioning across the border.
More than 100 militants have so far been killed by the security forces immediately after they entered into India from POK since January this year said, 120 other militants surrendered before the security forces near the LoC after their return from POK during the same period.
Official sources said unidentified militants shot at and critically wounded one Shahnawaz Ahmad War at village Nadihal in north Kashmir of Baramulla district last night. He was shifted to hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Police took away body of an unidentified person for identification from a hospital here where he was admitted in an injured condition on December 26.
A police spokesman said a hand grenade was recovered from an orchard at Naslapora village in the central Kashmir Badgam district last evening.
He said second Rashitriya Rifles apprehended a militant of Al-Badr Mohammad Yousuf Dar alongwith two Chinese hand grenades and one damaged wireless set at Wadwan Budgam. Another Al-Badr militant Mohammadd Sultan Wani was arrested at Kupwara while Fayaz Ahmad of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) was nabbed at Doorsa Lolab in north Kashmir alongwith two wireless sets.
