UP police on prowl of Dadua, Jagjivan: DGP
Lucknow, Dec 27 (UNI) A combing operation has been launched to nab dreaded dacoits, Shiv Kumar alias Dadua and Jagjivan Parihar, even as Dadua's brother claims the outlaw had no plans to surrender before the state police, Uttar Pradesh police today said.
State Director General of Police (DGP) Bua Singh said there was no political interference in the combing operation launched in the Bundelkhand region and other areas to nab the members of these gangs.
''Both the dacoits are alive and the UP police believes only in arrest and not surrender,'' he said asserting upon the seriousness of the state government to arrest Dadua and Jagjivan.
''The only challenge before the UP police is the geographical advantage to these bandits, as they are always moving along the UP-Madhya Pradesh border.'' Dadua, against whom the state government has announced a bounty of Rs 5 lakh, has been eluding arrest for the last 24 years, while Jagjivan has been active for the last one decade.
Yesterday, Dadua's younger brother and ruling Samajwadi Party leader Bal Kumar Patel had said although he had no relationship with the outlaw for the last two decades, there is no question of his surrender at the moment.
Asked if the SP government was pressurising the surrender of Dadua, Mr Bal Kumar said he had full faith in state Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Mr Bal Kumar was the BSP candidate against SP's Reoti Raman Singh from Karchana seat in Allahabad district in 2002 Assembly polls.
Dadua, the self-styled 'dasyu samrat' (bandit king), has been eluding police for over two decades now. More than 140 cases are pending against him in UP and Madhya Pradesh.
