Syntel inaugurates phase one of 40 acre campus in Pune
Chennai, Dec 27 (UNI) Syntel Inc, a leading global provider of custom outsourcing solutions, has inaugurated Phase one of its 40 acre campus in Pune recently and is taking steps to commence construction at a new SEZ Complex in Pune.
A company release here said that an additonal 40 acre has been acquired in Pune and the overall capacity would go upto 9000 headcount over the next few years.
Syntel would also start building the first phase of its new 30 acre Chennai campus to create 500,000 sq ft area, which is planned for the first quarter of 2008.
"Significant investments are planned in Pune, Chennai and Mumbai, as we dramatically expand our footprint in India", said Keshav R Murugesh, the Chief Operating Officer (COO), now elevated as Syntel President.
Mr Murugesh would be the President of the company, in addition to Chief Operating Officer (COO), the release said. He is 43, joined Syntel in 2002 from ITC Ltd, where he last served as the Vice President, Finance of their Infotech Company.
Prior to his appointment as COO in 2004, Mr Murugesh had served as Syntel's Chief Financial Officer(CFO) for two years where he migrated the entire Finance function to India and even today Syntel is the only US listed and registered company to locate its entire Finance operation in India.
Mr Murugesh was also the Chairman of Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) in India which has an association with a large number of college campuses across India. SIFE spreads the spirit of free enterprise among the college community.
"During his four and half years with Syntel, Mr Murugesh has consistently demonstrated strong leadership skills and business acumen," said Bharat Desai, Syntel Chairman and CEO.
Syntel also announced the appointment of Arvind Godbole as CFO.
Mr Godbole joined Syntel as Corporate Controller in 2001 and since June, 2006, has been serving as Acting CFO, the release added.
