One dead, six injured in police firing at Doda
Jammu, Dec 27 (UNI) One person died and six others, including two policemen were injured in a police firing at Madwa, 40 km from kishtwar in Doda district today, official sources said.
Police said a group of civilians attacked the Madwa police station and started stone pelting at the forces. The mob was agitating against the militants who killed a local resident.
''Police used water cannons and teargas to disperse the demonstrators. Suddenly the crowd turned violent and uncontrolled.
They entered the police station and started ransacking it. The police opened fire to control the mob,'' police sources added.
One civilian Ghulam Hasan died on the spot while six others including two policemen got seriously injuries.
Talking to UNI, SSP Doda Manohar Singh said only three people, including two constables were injured in the incident but the situation is totally under control.
