Herbal petrol 'inventor' plea to TN CM
Chennai, Dec 27 (UNI) Self-styled inventor of 'herbal petrol,' Mr Ramar Pillai, today appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to help him get his invention recognised by the Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP), Dehra Dun.
In a statement here, he claimed Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram had made arrangements for a demonstration and test on his product at the IIP.
Accepting a request from IIP scientists and officials, he was prepared to hand over the product formula to them, he added.
Stating two Nagpur-based scientists tested the herbal petrol during the previous Vajpayee regime under the then Science and Technology Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, he claimed they had certified his product to be equivalent to petrol.
Mr Pillai requested Mr Karunanidhi and Mr Chidambaram to contact the scientists and ask them to hand over the findings to the IIP and help him bring the invention to light.
He also threatened to immolate himself on January one if the government failed to accept his request before December 31.
