Goa to host national Taekwondo championship from tomorrow
Panaji, Dec 27 (UNI) About 800 participants from 26 states will participate in the three-day 21st National Teakwondo championship in senior, junior and sub-junior boys and girls categories, to be held in Goa from tomorrow.
The championship holds significance as 10 players will be selected for the India team for the world championship, to be held in Slovakia from April 10 to 12 next year.
Briefing the reporters here today, Goa Taekwondo Federation president Shankar Kirtapalkar and Taekwondo Association of India general secretary Rachana Rajendra said besides favourites Delhi, Maharastra, Karnataka and Nagland, others states such as Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, J&k, Kerala, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, UP, Uttranchal and West Bengal have confirmed their participation.
Kirtapalkar said participants holding green, blue, red and black belts have been invited for the championship, which will be played in 11 categories.
