GEC clerk robbed of Rs 3,18,000

Surat, Dec 27 (UNI) A clerk working with the Gujarat Electricity Company (GEC's) Sachin office was robbed of Rs 3,18,000 here today while he was travelling in an autorikshaw.

An unidentified person kicked the clerk out of the auto and escaped with the money kept in a bag police said.

Police had launched a manhunt for auto driver Prakash and the unidentified culprit.

According to Sachin police, Ramesh Dhaibai Modkar, was on his way to Bank of Baroda office to deposit the money.

There was another youth in the vehicle of 25-30 years age. When the auto approached a deserted place, the youth pushed Modkar out of it. The culprits managed to escape.
