EC clears Jairam Ramesh in office of profit row
New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) The Election Commission is understood to have cleared Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh in the office of profit controversy.
An opinion that he does not hold an office of profit has been sent to President A P J Abdul Kalam, who had earlier referred a petition seeking its views, sources said.
A complaint, filed by president of the Rashtriya Mukti Morcha Ravindra Kumar had alleged that Mr Ramesh was holding an office of profit by being a member of the National Advisory Council (NAC), which was chaired by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi earlier.
