CVC directs govt organisations to post applications on websites
New Delhi, Dec 27 (UNI) All government organisations, especially those having interface with general public, will have to make available application forms and proformas on their websites in downloadable form with effect from January 1 this year.
A direction to this effect was issued by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
In its circular dated November 22, the Commission has emphasized the need for increasing transparency through effective use of websites in discharge of regulatory, enforcement and other functions of government organisations, especially with reference to those having interface with general public or private business organisations.
The Commission has also directed that the status of each application should be made available on the website. But this would be implemented by the government organisations later.
CVC sources said here today that the Commission had disposed off 330 cases referred to it for advice. Further, the investigations by the CTE unit of the Commission resulted in recoveries to the tune of Rs. 1.45 crores during the month.
The Commission has done hectic business in November this year, advising launching of prosecution against 21 officers during the month and initiation of major penalty proceedings in 107 cases, based on the investigation reports submitted by the CBI and the Chief Vigilance Officers.
Based on the inquiry reports submitted by the Commissioners for departmental inquiries, borne on the strength of the Commission, and the departmental inquiring authorities, the Commission advised imposition of major penalty in 43 cases.
Suitable major penalty was imposed on 59 officers comprising 22 officers from Public Sector Banks, based on the Commission's advice tendered in earlier months.
During the month, the Commission had advised initiation of minor penalty proceeding in 74 cases and imposition of minor penalty in 16 cases. The administrative authorities, on the advice of the Commission have imposed minor penalties on 86 officials. The Commission also advised closure and exoneration of the charges in 165 cases during the month.
