Six held with 3 kg opium and 310 quintal of poppy husk

Moga, Dec 26 (UNI) During its special drive against narcotics smugglers, police have arrested six persons and seized three kg of opium and about 3.10 quintal of poppy husk from their possession in the district.

According to police, a police team at Badhni Kalan-Lopon crossing last night intercepted a car and on search recovered three kg of opium. All the three occupants of the car identified as Buta Singh, Jagseer Singh both from Sunam and Satnam Singh of Dhuri were arrested.

In another case acting on a tip off, police raided a drain bridge of village Rattian and arrested Sardul Singh, a notorious poopy husk smuggler, while two of his associates managed to escape. The police, however, recovered 90.75 kg poppy husk from his possession.

The CIA branch of the police, while on patrol duty in the area of Kotisekhan, intercepted a car and on search recovered six bags of poppy husk weighing 220 kg. Both the occupants of the car, Jatinder Pal and Simranjit Singh were arrested.
