Police seize 1.5 tonnes of cocaine, smash drug ring
WARSAW, Dec 26 (Reuters) Polish and Swedish police broke up a major drug smuggling ring, netting 100 million dollars worth of cocaine, Polish police said today.
The joint police operation stopped the gang attempting to smuggle some 1.5 tonnes of cocaine direcly from Colombian drug cartels into Poland, police spokesman Zbignew Matwiej said in a statement.
''Two Poles and a North American well known in the drug trade have been arrested in (the Baltic port of) Szczecin,'' the spokesman said, declining to give further details.
