Media must play proactive role in disaster management: Patil

Pune, Dec 26 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today urged the media to play a more proactive role in ''disaster management''.

The Minister was here to inaugurate a two-day workshop on ''National Disaster Management'' at the Central Reserve Police Force Group one at Talegaon near here.

He said the media's involvement in matters of disaster management would create more awareness among the public.

Speaking informally to reporters later, when asked about the security arrangements for Congress president Sonia Gandhi in view of the threat from the terror group, Al-Qaeda, Mr Patil pointed out that the security for the Congress president had always been tight.
