Jail inmate dies in hospital after hernia operation

Surat, Dec 26 (UNI) An inmate of the Surat sub-jail died after he was operated upon for hernia at the New Civil Hospital here, police said today.

According to police sources, 40-year-old Bachubhai Gandabhai Patel, a convict from Vyara, was admitted to the hospital after he developed some health complications.

Bachubhai Patel, who had undergone the operation yesterday, expired at midnight.

His body has been sent for post-mortem, the sources added.
