Indian employees to stage half-day hunger strike
New Delhi, Dec 26: The Air Corporations Employees' Union (ACEU) today announced a relay hunger strike over the year-end to press for its pending demands.
Its regional secretary S D Bhatt said the strike will be held on December 27, 30, 31 and January 1.
However, an Indian (Airlines) spokesperson said no flight operations will be affected.
''The ACEU has been compelled to go on an agitational programme since the management is not arriving at an amicable settlement on charter of demands in spite of clearance from the government,'' Mr Bhatt said in a statement.
The union is the largest recognised in Indian and represents three-fourth strengths of its employees.
The demands include: immediate settlement of charter of demands pending since January 1, 1997, career progression and proper pension scheme.
