CBI chargesheets four former HOCL officials for corruption

Kochi, Dec 26 (UNI) The CBI filed chargesheets against six people, including four former officials of the Hindustan Organic Chemicals Limited (HOCL) on charges of graft before the CBI Special Court here today.

According to an official release the chargesheets were filed against former HOCL General Manager Jayaraman Gopal, former Chief Manager (finance) S M George and current Deputy General Manager of Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd, former Chief Manager Saju M Joseph and former Junior Manager Rejith for flouting the tender formalities and purchase policy of the company in importing 2200 MTs of Cumene from Kolmar Petrochemicals of Switzerland.

The Chairman and Managing Director P M John and Tara John respectively of the Kolkata-based Meteor Private Limited, Indian agent of Kolmar, were also chargesheeted for entering into a criminal conspiracy to obtain pecuniary advantage and to cheat HOCL.

The wrongful deal has incurred a loss to the tune of about Rs 10 crore to the company, the release added.
