About 50 handicapped people arrested during demonstration

Jamshedpur, Dec 26 (UNI) About 50 physically challenged people, including the President of National Handicapped Party, were arrested when they resorted to 'hooliganism' in front of the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner's office during a demonstration here today.

Police said the NHP president K K Dixit, party executive member Raj Kumari Shukla and state NHP president Anay Kumar Chowdhary led a demonstration to put their charter of demands before DC N M Kulkarni.

The demonstration turned violent when the agitators ransacked the vehicles, including a truck, outside the office. But when Mr Kulkarni came out to pacify the agitators, the warring hadicapped people reportedly heckled the officer.

Following the scuffle and pandemonium, Mr Kulkarni ordered to arrest the agitators. Some of the agitators were also injured in the scuffle, police said.
