3 killed, 5 injured in a road accident

Barrackpore, Dec 26 (UNI) At least three people were killed and five others injured when an ambulance hit a tree on National Highway 34 at Khelia under Amdanga police station in North 24 Parganas early here today.

Police said the ambulance was returning to Domkal, Murshidabad, with a body from the city's Dr Nilratan Sarkar Medical College Hospital. Several people were also travelling in the ambulance.

Police said the ambulance rammed a roadside tree at midnight leaving three of its occupants dead on the spot. The injured people were rushed to the hospital.
